Athens, Greece

I did this for Laure Ferlita's 'Imaginary Trip to Greece' class.  We visited Athens for 3 days in October and saw much of the demonstrating and government worker strikes.  We left the day before the rioting started.  It was so sad to see a city with such rich history in such chaos.  We walked the Olympic track and even stood on the podium with our audiophones as our medals.  Such a thrill to walk the tunnel where the olympians entered the stadium!

Orange blossoms delight

This is my first try at a larger than journal painting in a very long time. I got the idea from Karlyn Holman's book. It's 11x15 and was lots of fun to do with the loose background. It's nearly impossible to create the luscious orange of this fruit-but it was delicious fun to try.
It feels great to be back to painting again - just for the joy it gives me. No focus on showing or selling or competition of any kind.
Learning to do a blog is a big challenge for me too. I used to believe that computers were a 'passing fad'! How wrong I was and now have SO much to learn!

Birds, fish, blooms and fun

The bird and fish were from the condo we stayed in in Fl. I'm determined to get better at drawing so I'm picking all kinds of subjects from shoes to animals. Hopefully someday I might even try people!
The blooms were from our back yard at the peak of spring beauty. The flowers
are for greeting cards as I often need them for thank you's!
